This now annual, 4-day event that began in 1979 will see more than 100 hot air balloons take to the skies at one time from teams across the world. Visit Ashton Court Estate from the 10th-13th of August to experience the spectacle for yourself. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy your own balloon ride
This gastronomic weekend will take place at Blenheim Palace from the 27th – 29th of May. Sample delicious products from artisan bakers, celebrity chefs, craft brewers and street food vendors. There will also be the chance to attend masterclasses and tastings with more than 160 stalls on site.
Fancy something a little more unusual? The World Bog Snorkelling Championships in the village of Llanwrtyd Wells in Mid Wales are taking place on the 27th August. Participants from across the world take to the peat bogs of the Welsh countryside in a bid to win the world title, often in creative costumes!
Celebrate Scotland’s national drink with a visit to two festivals in the area of Speyside. Spirit of Speyside hosts a whisky festival from the 26th April to the 1st May and a food and drink festival from the 1st – 2nd September. Scotland’s Highland Games take place across the country throughout the summer. These outdoor events include traditional sports such as the caber toss, tug o’ war and the hammer throw alongside, ceilidhs, food and livestock events.
Celebrate Jane Austen with a week long festival in Bath from the 8th – 17th of September. People dress up accordingly and gather in Regency decorated locations to enjoy dancing at themed balls, honing in traditional skills and playing garden games.
